SARKA KOCICKA was born in Brno, Czech Republic and moved to Toronto at age four. At fourteen, she began studying drum set and playing with her first band, In A Jar, an all-female group that performed in the Toronto area. After moving to Vancouver to attend the University of British Columbia, Sarka performed and recorded with a variety of hip-hop and rock bands, and folk hip-hop artist, Greentara. In 1999, Sarka joined Scrap Arts Music, putting her athletic swimming background to good use in the high-energy show. In 2007, Sarka left the ensemble to pursue other interests, moving to New York, Tampa, San Francisco, Seoul, and then Singapore in 2009, where she got married, worked as a Business Analyst for Hewlett-Packard, played drums at corporate events, became a yoga teacher and had a baby girl. In 2013, Sarka rejoined Scrap Arts Music, thrilled to be back with her musical family as a swing.
