NOW
Inspired by the NowNowNow project by Derek Sivers, here's a quick update on what we're up to now!
What's Happening Now:
DECEMBER 2024
In terms of things Scrap Arts Music, we are promoting "Children of Metropolis" at conferences in the USA and Canada (specifically WAA, MAX, CINARS and APAP). This means Gregory and Justine fly into the host city (this year is was/is San Diego, Indianapolis, Montreal and NYC), participate in the Conference, stand at a booth and do our best to work the conference attendee list to promote and ultimately get bookings for our show! We've done three of four so far and will head to APAP after Christmas. Being in NYC should be great!
Otherwise, we are editing the film - more like tweaking it - for better viewing. Gregory is practicing piano and drums, and always running errands and walking the dogs. Justine is considering her options while participating in twice weekly music mentoring zoom calls, Music BC and BC Live volunteer activities, swimming in the Salish Sea, and considering such mundane activities as whether to put a bid on a carpet at the local auction house or what eBike to get!
This is our quick "NOW"!

MAY 2024
In April 2024, we finally debuted our re-imagined "Children of Metropolis" project in New Mexico and Washington states. Gregory and I (Justine) have been passionately working on this project since the pandemic began. Completing the movie was a monumental task (kudos to Greg!). Teaching and rehearsing the ensemble was also a huge and costly undertaking, but we succeeded thanks to the incredible efforts and support of many. The whole endeavor was a testament to boundless creativity.
Currently, we're finalizing the marketing details to book this production for 2025-2026. This includes preparing videos of the production, creating a study guide, and finalizing hospitality and tech riders. The major push for bookings will happen from the end of August through January 2025.
We're hopeful that people will be open to experiencing our work and that we'll captivate their audiences.
Recent Adventures:
During our tour, we visited some extraordinary places, including White Sands National Park, the Grand Canyon, and Zion National Park. Gregory and I drove from Victoria, BC to New Mexico and back. We even had the chance to meet Trimpin in Tieton, WA, thanks to our wonderful friend Charlie Robin. We're still processing the magic of this tour!
Upon returning home, we hosted Justine's family for a week—their first visit to southern Vancouver Island ever (cousin Cindy) or in many years (Aunt Elsie). It was a beautiful reunion at the beginning of May.
Upcoming Plans:
- In July, we're planning a road trip to visit dear friends in Montana and the Kootenays.
- In August, we'll be kayaking up island with a visiting friend from the Netherlands.
- We might even go on a European walking trip this fall.
- All the while, we'll continue working on our garden and staying active.
Gregory is also excited to delve into his piano studies.
That's our quick "NOW"!
